This market in Sorgues takes place regularly on Sundays. You can usually start shopping from 8.00 am and the market traders clear up again from 12.30 pm.

Sorgues market is located Avenue du 8 Mai 1945, Avenue du 11 Novembre and Cours de la République, other local name: Place du Général de Gaulle. This is near the central roundabout, the market takes also place in an old covered hall north of the roundabout in the Cours de la République (map). This market is partially covered. 150 different booths are to be found on this market. The product range includes fruit and vegetables, direct marketing food, fish and seafood, meat products, flowers and crop and also clothes, kitchen utensils, furniture, toys and not non alimentary producs.

The Sorgues market has existed at least since the 14th century, since the pontifical archives revealed that in 1336, Benedict XII, third pope of Avignon, offered 126 florins to build a hall under which the weekly market of Pont-de-Sorgues would now be held. Currently, the market remains a meeting place in the heart of the city which has retained its social function. It perpetuates the tradition of an ancestral trade which has been able to resist and adapt to new forms of distribution.

Very frequented by the lacals as well as the visitors or the tourists summer, it is held every Sunday morning from 8 am to 1 pm, in the city center. It occupies the Rue des Remparts, the Place de la République, the Place Saint-Pierre, the Cours de la République, also called the Place du Général de Gaulle, the Boulevard Roger Ricca, the Avenue du 11 novembre and the Avenue du 8 May 1945. This market is partially covered by a market hall on the Cours de la République, north of the roundabout.
