This truffles market in Richerenches takes place on Saturdays. However, it is necessary to observe the seasonal or daily divergences specified in the weekly table above.

Richerenches truffles and delicacy market is located on the Cours du Mistral and Avenue de la Rabasse. This is under the plane trees north and west of the small village centre (map). 40 different booths are to be found on this market. The product range includes fruit and vegetables, meat products and also truffles.

The grand opening of the market is held on the Saturday following November 15th.

The Richerenches truffle market is the largest market in Europe in terms of the quantity of truffles sold. It attracts a number of professionals at the same time: restaurateurs, brokers, traders, preservers, etc. but also individuals assured of finding quality truffles without difficulty. It has been set up 2008.

The lifting of the Truffle Ban marks the opening of the new truffle season throughout the south-east of France, the first producing region of black truffles known as Périgord truffles, a botanical and non-geographical appellation, since 70% of truffles sold in France come from the markets of Vaucluse.

This market sees more than 700 kilos of black truffles sold each week, making it the largest in Europe. Richerenches represents more than 50% of the contributions made on the main markets of the South-East and 30% of the French national production.

In winter, every Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., truffle growers, brokers, buyers, amateurs meet on the Cours du Mistral for wholesale and on Avenue de la Rabasse for retail sale, where all the conversations revolve around the truffle. In reality, the market is divided into three sectors because, in addition to wholesale to professionals and retail to individuals, there is a market of regional and artisanal products where are offered: wines, honey, olives, garlic, cheeses, etc. This local produce market runs parallel to the retail truffle market on the same aisle.

Whatever the species, a truffle must fall into one of these three categories: Catégorie Extra where top quality truffles of a size greater than or equal to 20 grams are found, Catégorie I which includes good quality truffles with slight defects, having a size greater than or equal to 10 grams, Catégorie II which includes all other truffles of a size greater than or equal to 5 grams.
