This market in Nice takes place regularly Tuesday to Sunday. You can usually start shopping from 8.00 am and the market traders clear up again from 12.30 pm.
Saleya market in Nice is located on the Cours Saleya. This is between of the old city centre the Quai des Etats-Unis, accessible by the tramway line in direction Vieille Ville (map). 107 different booths are to be found on this market. The product range includes fruit and vegetables, direct marketing food, fish and seafood and also flowers and crop.
The Cours Saleya and the associated market have existed since 1816, but the facility has seen some changes to this day. From 1910 onwards it lost its attraction compared to the & new part of the city (behind today's Promenade des Anglais) although a concrete hall was built in 1930. In the 1960s the attractiveness declined further and in 1980 the unattractive hall was demolished. The repair will not take place until 2009. Since then, the market has also been limited to the Cours Saleya and you can no longer find Place Pierre Gautier.
